About Windsor Surgical Centre

Windsor Surgical Centre is the first of its kind and the largest outpatient facility in Ontario. This 12,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility boasts four operating theatres, fifteen pre and post operative bays and a dedicated laser suite. Windsor Surgical Centre is an independent healthcare facility that was developed to support and partner with Windsor Regional Hospital for the purpose of increasing access to cataract and retina surgeries for the community of Windsor-Essex.

During the pandemic WSC partnered with Windsor Regional Hospital to develop a strategy that would free up hospital resources and clear the back log of non-elective procedures, specifically cataracts. As a result, patient wait times were significantly reduced.

Windsor Surgical Centre has set the stage for other regions to follow, and their model is currently being used in other jurisdictions.
